Co-operation - A Way Of Life

Among the distinguishing features of the co-operative form of organisation are its voluntary and democratic character, perspiratory nature and above all, its commitment to high ethical standards such as honesty, openness and society responsiveness and caring in all its dealings and activities. Combating exploitation, reducing disparities, improving social conditions and gender sensitivity, and helping to create a more just society with pronounced concern for environmental protection and sustainable processes of developmental and protecting and sustainable process of development tend to make co-operative a preferred and more socially desirable form of organisation.

During the last 125 years a huge transformation within the co-operative movement has taken place. In India, rapidly growing co-operative sector, with special emphasis on the needs of the peasant, the worker and the consumer become a vital factor for social stability, for expansion of employment opportunities and for sustainable economic development.
